Fire-resistant curtain wall for hospital

For the new entrance hall of Imeldaziekenhuis Bonheiden, the focus was on energy saving, natural light and the creation of a new look, in which the green environment had to be continued inside.
The architect chose the MC Wall for the large, transparent entrance hall. Also because with this curtain wall system, no architectural consensus was needed to give the façade the required fire resistance.
"The versatile McWall curtain wall system combines several qualities: not only a fire resistance of EI30 to EI120, but also exceptional thermal and acoustic performance, generous natural light incidence, effective protection against wind and water infiltration and - last but not least - beautiful aesthetics. Moreover, the system is designed for large glass weights and spans, both in height and width. Our McWall curtain walls allow for the necessary dilatations and are perfectly capable of absorbing the heavy loads on the horizontal rails, especially if we switch to specific glass weights to cope with large wind loads or achieve high acoustic values. Trying to achieve this through a classic window system often has an impact on the appearance widths of the profiles, which is not always compatible with the architectural vision. And of course we try to avoid that at all times." says Els Uvyn, project manager at Aliplast.
